Clubhouse Account Agreement

This agreement is made between Student Organizations possessing a clubhouse username/password and the ECU Student Media Board. Each all students in each student organization agrees to the terms outlined here.

An organization will:
1. Abide by the acceptable use policy listed later on this page.
2. Abide by all university regulations pertaining to student organizations.
3. Take all actions to remain an officially recognized student organization.

The Digital Media Director will:
1. Provide copies of all policies, available upon request.
2. Provide interpretation of the acceptable use policies when needed.
3. Listen and respond to all comments, questions and complaints received.
4. Provide assistance in creating and maintaining an organization's web site.

The Web Media Director may freeze or restrict access to an organization's data, information and account if an organization is found in violation of this account agreement. Any organization deemed to be in repeated or severe violation of this agreement may have their account revoked by completely removing it from the system including all data stored within.

All data contained within an account shall be considered that organization's property. Any violation of this agreement will cause the account to be frozen and all data within an account will become property of the ECU Student Media Board. Data ownership will be automatically returned to a student organization once the account has been unfrozen. In case of revocation, the data will become the permanent property of the ECU Student Media Board.

The Digital Media Director will notify an organization and the ECU Student Media Board if a violation occurs. The Director has the authority to determine a violation and to take action as outlined in this agreement and as deemed necessary, even if the organization is not aware of the action.

It is understood that a person submitting a validation code to this page is a member of the corresponding organization and is responsible for the organization's members behavior adhering to the provisions outlined in these terms.

 

Acceptable Use Policies of Clubhouse Web Server

The following acceptable use policies for student organization accounts on the Clubhouse server shall be in force at all times, for all accounts, with no exception. The penalty for violation of these policies shall be stated, but not limited to, the consequences listed in the Account Agreement above.

1. Use of an account for personal business is prohibited. Personal business is considered anything that is not related to a student organization as judged by the ECU Media Board and its representatives.

2. Obscene material is strictly prohibited. Any content considered X-rated or sexually explicit by the ECU Media Board and its representatives will be deleted immediately.

3. Commercial advertising is strictly prohibited. Any form of commercial advertising as judged by the ECU Media Board and its representatives will be deleted immediately.

4. Excessive use of server resources is prohibited. All files used by an organization must be related to an organization's web page. No personal files of any type will be permitted. Excessive use of memory or processor time that is deemed unreasonable is prohibited (i.e. Real Audio Servers, etc.).

5. Fund raising is strictly prohibited. No student organization may solicit funds on their web page regardless of purpose, collector or beneficiary.

6. Unauthorized access is strictly prohibited. Any actions which are considered attempts to gain unauthorized access to the server are considered attacks on the integrity of the server and are strictly prohibited (i.e. SUID root shells, crack utilities, zap programs, copies of password file, etc.). This type of activity will result in immediate and permanent removal of an account.

7. Actions which would prevent others from accessing the server will be not allowed nor permitted. This includes any behavior which may be seen by another user or by site administrators as being reasonably and intentionally hindering (i.e. crashing the server, forcing it offline, hampering another user's ability to log in, modifying other users' files, etc.).

This policy statement shall be the guiding rule and principle for acceptable use of the Clubhouse web server.

An appeal of any action taken under the provisions of this acceptable use policy may be heard by the ECU Student Media Board and settled by a majority vote of the board members present.

Revisions or alternations to this document will be effective upon a majority vote of the board membership by the ECU Student Media Board.
